When you go to a time zone 9 hours ahead, jetlag is simply
inevitable. I’ve always dealt with
it by toughing it out, trying to stay awake while others are awake, and trying
to sleep when everyone else sleeps. It’s not such a big deal to adjust to the time difference as an
adult. However, jetlag with a
toddler is completely different. The first challenge arises around 3 a.m. when the little person wakes up
and is ready to play and undoubtedly hungry as well. In our experience, we were already awake when Noah woke up,
so it came as no surprise. The
difficulty is going back to sleep—and not just for the little guy, but for all
of us. The first few nights it
took us almost 2 hours! Fortunately, like most things, as the days go by, the jetlag seems to
subside as well. Last night we
spent only 45 minutes awake in the early hours. Ahhh, the realities of world travel!
