Winter is officially here in Kosovo. As far as we are concerned, the first
snowfall (Saturday the 22nd) and below freezing temps are enough to
call it winter here. We were
pretty surprised. After hearing
rainfall during the night (unfortunately Noah wakes us up on a fairly regular
basis now), we were very surprised to wake up and see that the rooftops around
us were covered with beautiful white snow. Yikes! We
aren’t ready for this at all! Only
one of us is lucky enough to have a winter coat. And none of us have winter shoes. So, as you can imagine, we eventually got ourselves ready
and braved the cold outside air. We were on a search for winter boots. We went to a place our team members had recommended and we
found quite a crowd of people there who had the same idea we had. It didn’t take us long . . . Genti
found a suitable pair of boots for 10 Euro and I found some for 7 Euro! Wow, you can call that a deal.
Now we are really wondering when our precious boxes are
going to get through the customs check points in Greece and make their way to
our home. We have a “shipping
broker” who is prepared to bring them here. However, we still have not been notified that they are ready
for the shipping broker to pick up. It will be an early Christmas for us. Even better, a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving. (I don’t
foresee our Thanksgiving to involve a turkey, pumpkin pie, or stuffing for that
matter!) What we could really use
though is Noah’s winter coat, Genti’s coat, and a whole slew of sweaters and
other warm clothing. Bend was so
warm at the end of September it was just hard to believe that we would be
caught in cold winter weather so fast!! My how time flies.
