Proverb of the Week

I recently began a new thing with my English class.  I figured it was time to give them a little more insight into what the Bible offers.  So, each week I will be introducing to them a wise saying from the book of Proverbs.  Last week the verse was from Proverbs 12:15 which reads, “Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to advice.”  The thing is, with Proverbs, you just can’t go wrong.  The way I see it, Proverbs work for everyone, in every place, every life.  Most of the students in my class are young and have many big decisions ahead of them.  That being the case, they will really benefit if they apply the wisdom they receive from Proverbs.

When I was introducing the Proverb last Monday, I asked them where they thought I was getting these Proverbs from.  They had no idea, and their guesses were all over the board.  So, it seems to be something brand new to them.  I’m really hoping that good things come out of this.  I also am praying for wisdom to pick the right verses to teach them.  If you have any suggestions, send them our way!  (Click on Contact Us)

In the meanwhile, Genti and I are reading a Proverb everyday, so I should have no trouble finding great verses to pass on to them.  Here’s a proverb to mull over . . .

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but wisdom is with the humble.” Proverbs 11:2
